Production duo 2 Hungry Bros and MC 8thW1 recently teamed up for No Room For Dessert, an 11 track, semi-throwback-feeling-project, filled with dope, soulful beats and fun, creative rhymes, featuring a hearty collection of progressive New York City talent such as Homeboy Sandman (the inaugural entry in our “5 Reasons Why New York Hip Hop Doesn’t Suck” series), P.So (who we have covered here), Fresh Daily (who we have covered here), and others. Among them, the energetic and charismatic duo, Sleepwalkas.
Sleepwalkas (Ciph Diggy and K Gaines) previously lit up our e-pages with “Rhyme Flow,” the video to their song with Brand Nubian member, Sadat X. Since then, we’ve seen these grindasauruses on several occasions, and they never cease to put on a dope performance. Here in the Shankar-directed video for “Be On You,” they are comically laid back, but just as effective.
While the BBQ season has unfortunately left us, you can still rock to this before you light the fireplace and break out your Sergio Mendes albums. The Sleepwalkas LP (which had been, to our knowledge, tentatively titled Cookie Cutter Cornballs Can’t Cut It On This CD), is still in the oven.
