One of Brooklyn’s finest, Joell Ortiz will be appearing at SOBs on November 9, as part of his continuing run-up to his upcoming highly anticipated Free Agent album release.
Demonstrative of his everyman appeal, Joell Ortiz, often thought of (at least by us) as a “working man’s MC,” tweeted out a universal invite, stating, “SOB’s NOV 9th EVERYBODY is a VIP. There will be no Meet and Greet tix sold. We Family. Come out and have a drink with me.”
Word.

We’ve been happy to post up Ortiz’ latest works, including the fiery “Battle Cry,” from his Farewell Summer EP, and the recent video to his collaboration with crooner Novel, “Night Train.” We last saw Joell Ortiz at Southpaw in his home borough, performing a brief but energetic set for the kickoff to his Yaowa! mixtape tour.

Tickets for the SOBs event are $25, (doors at 7:30 p.m., according to the venue, which differs from the flyer. Showtime scheduled for 9 p.m.) and the night will feature “special guests,” including The Doppelgangez. We fully expect that once again, Joell Ortiz will demonstrate why we named him one of our inaugural “5 Reasons Why New York Hip Hop Doesn’t Suck.”
We can all drink to that.
