He may be one of the most watched battle rappers on YouTube, in part to his ability to embarrassingly defeat competitors in that arena, and despite the occasional notion that battle rappers are notoriously challenged when trying to create actual songs, Soul Khan does not disappoint with the song and video for “Fahrenheit,” off of his upcoming full length project, Soul Like Khan, to be presented by 2DopeBoyz on November 16.
The snappy, Marink-produced, piano fueled boom-bap track with Akie Bermiss on the hook, punctuated by a whispery vocal melody, is a solid, headnod-inducing foundation upon which Soul Khan’s hearty voice rumbles over nicely. The accompanying video, produced by Brown Bag AllStars cohort J57 and directed by Nicolas Heller and Houston Yang, should satisfy hip hop heads, while giving coulrophobiacs a special treat.
