One of hip hop’s more prolific groups will be honored by a large contingent of New York area rappers, as part of a live band tribute to A Tribe Called Quest, Thursday, October 7 at Sullivan Hall, in New York City.
A slew of NYC underground hip hop performers will hit the stage to reenact ATCQ’s hits and undoubtedly, more obscure tracks, to culminate a full night of live hip hop music, beginning with Party L.I.f.e. (7:30pm), The Blackout Project (8:30pm), Alphabet Soup (9:30pm) and the tribute beginning at 10:30pm.
The tribute is to be hosted by iLLspoKinN, host of Freestyle Mondays, a long running, live band-backed hip hop showcase held weekly in New York City. Many of the NYC hip hop circuit’s well-known MCs, many of which have graced the e-pages of BirthplaceMag.com in the past, are scheduled to appear, including: Jesse Abraham, Tah Phrum Duh Bush, Hassan Salaam, Atlas, Broke MC, Nyle, Megaciph, Grand Phee, Leecy T, M-Tri, Coole High, Commissioner Gordon, Never Yet Contested, Hired Gun, Baldi, Mariella, Demostina, C Boogie and OVEous Maximus.
The event, sponsored in part by Tru Statement, will go down on Thurday, Oct. 7th at Sullivan Hall, 214 Sullivan St., New York. General admission is $10 and it is an 18 and over show. Tickets can be purchased online or at the event.
