Admittedly, because we spend a lot of time repping newcomers and underground folks, we sometimes neglect some of the NY-area artists that we know the major/national hip hop blogs cover, but to be fair, cats like Jae Millz and Vado fit this category, and we should cover them more often. Jae Millz has been fairly consistent and active over the years, though never quite emerges on a grand scale, while Cam’ron protege Vado has a chance to be somewhat of an breakout artist in 2011. Figured we’d share a lil’ taste of what these two got going on, in their NYC club friendly collaboration, “I Need a Drink”.
Vado’s debut mixtape-turned-album release, Slime Flu, is scheduled for an October 12 release. Vado tells MTV’s Rapfix there will actually be two versions of Slime Flu, the retail version and one done with DJ Drama.
Check the collaboration below, as well as the MTV interview with the co-star of “Speaking In Tungs”, and learn the fabled origin of “slime”.
