Hip Hop at CMJ Music Marathon: Quality Control Showcase [10/20/10 – 9:00pm]

The 2010 CMJ Music Marathon and Film Festival kicks off in New York City this week, and we’re looking forward to the influx of talent that the hip hop showcases will bring in. For the next couple of days, we’ll highlight a few of the more interesting showcases and events, so that our NY-area hip hop head-filled audience will know what’s popping, and where we’ll likely show up.

The CMJ Music Marathon and Film Festival kicks off on Tuesday, October 19, lasting until Saturday, October 23. Wednesday, October 20 at Southpaw in Brooklyn, the Quality Control Showcase will get under way, starting at about 9pm. This showcase, sponsored by Quality Control Marketing in conjunction with FWMJ’s RappersIKnow.com, will deliver a diverse lineup featuring artists from across the country, including a couple of special New York artists as well.

From Brooklyn and Cincinatti, and a favorite of ours at BirthplaceMag.com, Tanya Morgan will be performing, along with one of our inaugural “5 Reasons Why New York Hip Hop Doesn’t Suck,” YC The Cynic. Rounding out the NYC contingent, Jah C, Fresh Vetz and Neek the Exotic, featuring Queens hip hop veteran Large Professor.

Swooping in from out of town, One Be Lo and Magestik Legend from Michigan, Grillade and Honor Roll representing the Bay Area, Truthlive from the Bay Area/LA, DaVinci from San Francisco and The Problemaddicts out of Massachusetts.
