Rah Digga Interview With MMN: Speaks On “Classic,” Her Return to Hip Hop, Nicki Minaj

With her first album in 10 years due this month, Rah Digga re-enters a hip hop landscape much different than the one she left, though as evidenced by her song/video for “This Ain’t No Lil’ Kid Rap,” the former Flipmode Squad rapstress still “got it”. Her upcoming Classic, entirely produced by Nottz is due out September 14 on Raw Koncept.

Rah Digga - Classic CoverFriend of BirthplaceMag.com and Managing Editor of MOG Music Network, Kenny Herzog, just published an exclusive interview with Ms. Digga, where she speaks on her hiatus, other female MCs from past and present (including Rage, Foxy Brown, sorta, and Nicki Minaj), and whether she feels the need to “fit in” with the current rap climate.

Rah Digga tells Herzog:

I’m not even trying to fit in. It’s not about keeping up with the trend or what’s going on with the now. This album actually doesn’t fit in; it’s not [Hip-Hop/R&B radio station] KMEL saturated. It’s just beats and rhymes and DJ cuts.

Knowing Rah Digga’s past lyrical prowess and Nottz’ ear for soulful beats, we expect that, while ambitiously named, Classic just might have a few moments worthy of its title.
