Hip Hop Howl, an ongoing “live mixtape showcase,” returns to the streets of New York City to showcase a bevy of underground NYC-area talent today, September 12th, at Tompkins Square Park from 1pm-2pm. We highly advocate spending one hour, for free, in a NYC park, in beautiful NYC weather, to witness this eclectic and talented lineup.

Among the flurry of performers, several who have been highlighted in the e-pages of BirthplaceMag.com, including YC The Cynic (one of our “5 Reasons Why NY Hip Hop Doesn’t Suck“), Kalae All Day and Eric Sosa (each undoubtedly an upcoming “Reason”), Kyle Rapps and Mazzi. Other acts, many of who are certainly on our radar as well, include Kesed, Circa ’95, MC Eyeris, Shyvonne and Adrienne Mack-Davis. The event, hosted by Crosby and Miz Metro and to be mixed live by DJ Mikey Fresh, promises “surprise guests”.
(Surely they mean that Manny Faces from BirthplaceMag.com might be on hand to document the event, wink, wink.)
In any event, those who claim NY hip hop isn’t what it once was, should pay attention to the thriving underground circuit that we so diligently attempt to journal, and stopping by Tompkins Square Park to witness these artists, should give them an idea as to the extent of creativity and talent that is alive and well, bubbling right under the collective noses of those who might think otherwise.
Hip Hop Howl, live mixtape showcase: A-NY Min Edition Pt.3, goes down today, Sunday, September 12 at Tompkins Square Park (Main stage: 7th Street, between Ave A & Ave B) from 1pm-2pm. The event is free to the public.
