Ronald Isley snatches up 2010’s Comeback Queen Lauryn Hill to join him for a remake of the classic “Close To You,” a song made famous by The Carpenters in the early 1970s. As Wikipedia points out, it is also Homer and Marge Simpsons love song. Now you know.
Lauryn Hill has been making a buzz ever since earlier this year when rumors abounded regarding her comeback to performing and recording. She also spoke at length with NPR for a feature story, her first full interview in quite a while. While there has been some mixed reaction regarding Lauryn Hill’s performance at the Rock The Bells concerts, her recent studio material, including the very cool “Repercussions” is showing us a Lauryn about as good as she’s ever been, at least singing-wise (we’re anxiously awaiting new L-Boogie spit).
In the meantime, we now have “Close To You,” which is slated to appear on Mr. Biggs upcoming release, Mr. I. And we know it’s not “hip hop” per se, but it’s Lauryn, so shut up.
