Drake scored one for the softer side of hip hop, while maintaining his top-ranked reputation with a “smooth concert” at New York’s Radio City Music Hall last night (9/28). The Toronto native Drake finally got to headline a show in New York City, (without shutting down the entire Manhattan seaboard this time), as the hip hop man-of-the-hour-until-Lil-Wayne-gets-out brought his Light Dreams and Nightmares Tour to the famed Radio City Music Hall for the first of two engagements in the Big Apple.
A few supporting artists, Young Jeezy, J. Cole, Birdman, Mack Maine, Tyga, and Lil Wayne (in spirit, from a few short miles away) joined the Canadian superstar on stage as Drake put on quite a show, backed by a full band, fireworks and an energetically electric New York City crowd.
As we try and do with large events in New York City (like the recent Eminem/Jay-Z Yankee Stadium extravagazas), we’ll be putting up a little recap of recaps as information, pictures and video trickle out over the internet. Check back periodically and stay tuned, as round two continues on Wednesday with Drake’s second show.
