Reek Da Villain ft. Busta Rhymes, Swizz Beatz – Mechanics

Straight out of where I personally rep, Reek Da Villain steps forward from among the I Am Strong Island conglomerate with “Mechanics,” a Swizz Beatz production of debatable origin (see comments) that features fellow Long Islander Busta Rhymes and Swizz Beatz. Reek represents Roosevelt, LI and is a part of the I Am Strong Island movement, emanating from the Central Station retail store, led by Long Island hip hop scene veterans DC, Craig Herring and others.

UPDATE: Reek Da Villain “Mechanics” (Remix) – ft. Busta Rhymes, Swizz Beatz, Vado, Camron, Method Man, Nelly, DJ Khaled

A former Flipmode Squad member who appeared on a few Busta Rhymes-affiliated tracks in the past, Reek Da Villain rocks over a flip of Jerry Butler’s “I’m Your Mechanical Man,” previously sampled on Method Man’s “Bring The Pain,” with a rapid, witty flow. We hear the track attracted the attention of Funkmaster Flex who gave it some spin on Hot 97. Nice to see some local action on Flex’ show.

Anyway, I’ve crossed paths with DC an’ ‘nem from time to time in the past, so it’s good to see long-standing members of the Long Island hip hop community get some well-deserved shine. We’ll definitely “B” on the lookout for more from Reek.
