BirthplaceMag: Elegant Hoodness Music Program founder A.D. The General calls you “The Lieutenant” to the movement. What role do you play in N.A.B. and the Elegant Hoodness Musical Program?
MS FEFE: I’m the Vice President of the Elegant Hoodness Musical Program and Co-Founder of N.A.B. I’m Lieutenant, because I’m the right-hand of the General, first choice. My role is being the brains and motivation behind N.A.B., the all-female organization, where the whole purpose of the movement is to encourage young women and show them that there are always other outlets in life to achieve your goals besides the obvious, and that it’s nothing to accomplish those goals. My role is to be the positive reenforcement in the negative light of the world of hip hop.
BPM: How long have you been rapping? And how do you feel about female MCs being thought of as “extinct”?
MS FEFE: I’ve been doing music since the tender age of seven. I was always writing music. I came from a musical background. I remember the first rap I ever wrote, but before that, I was into poetry heavy. You know poetry is another form of musical expression, so I figured I would add music behind my words. Plus I was tired of hearing the same ol’ on the radio and what really bothered me was that I never heard a lot of females MCs on the radio. And we being extinct is a joke. We were extinct boo. Don’t they know we rule everything?! There is a new breed of female MC and just because every woman doesn’t want to be half naked, 100 pounds, with fake hair, boobs, and ass, doesn’t mean that we are extinct. People need to wake up and realize that the “average chick” is here to stay. Who you think write these pretty bitches lyrics? (laughs) Cut it out. And you men need to stop forgetting that us women gave ya’ll birth, so pay homage. Takeover season has begun!
BPM: Congrats on your recent win as HHH Magazine Female Artist of the Year. How do you feel about your win?
MS FEFE: I feel blessed, because I have never gotten recognized for anything I’ve done musically. That award truly means a lot to me and I will represent for my ladies to the fullest! Shout out to my girl Lisa of HHH Magazine and HHH Radio for even giving me the outlet to be heard. You know, you run into an angel every blue moon and I guess it was my moment, because we found each other and it has been real from the gate. I appreciate her and HHH for all the opportunities. This one is for my seed. I want to show her that the things I do in life are not in vain.
BPM: Talk to us about the importance of female entrepreneurship and being “more than your average” female rapper?
MS FEFE: Women always been independent and entrepreneurs in their own right, so the importance of being a female and owning your own should be one of the highest priorities for women in this business. It’s already bad when a man takes credit for everything a woman has done in this business, its even worse when a woman just sits there and accepts it. I’m a “Notthing Ass Bitch”. I will never accept the bullshit. I will never be average. I’m from the bottom, so my mind frame is always on the prize and that’s acceptance and respect. Most people’s focus is on reaching the top spot, not me. Just respect my hustle and accept my grind, because it’s relentless! I’m that B.I.T.C.H. and I roll with a few B.I.T.C.H.E.S. that’s on the same level. Those B.eautiful I.ntelligent T.alented C.harismatic H.onorable E.ntrepreneurs S.triving for the same goal. Now how average is that?! (laughs)
BPM: You recently released “Smack A Bitch” produced by Super Producer Music Mystro. Who are some of the artists and producers you’ve collaborated with for your new project? Do you have a title for the new project and is there a release date yet?
MS FEFE: Shouts to Music Mystro for blessing me with that beat. Real talk, he could have given that beat to a male MC and let him do the typical on it, but he let me bless it, and that’s exactly what I did. Chuuch! But my latest project Same Shit… Different Toilet is out right now. Crazy bangers on that such as “Skritin”,“We Starz” and “Bread and Butter”. But “Smack A Bitch” is on my upcoming project The FeAhnna Blue Project. I got crazy collabos and production on this one! I got Hannibull, T-Eazy, Mala Reignz, Madam Madon, DARQ, Miss Michelle and a few more people I rocked out with. Production wise I have G3MZ of High Hats Productions, Rick Flare of Palm Metal State Productions/Beat Arkitekz, RyChris, Kwan Lee, Cuzzo Sosay of Rockboy Records, Brandon Heat. I rock with the up and coming because they are more genuine and passionate about their work. I’m trying to release the project around my birthday in November, so be on the lookout for that!
BPM: The Elegant Hoodness Musical Program will be having several events In Kansas City, your home town. Tell me why it is important to have this program in Kansas City?
MS FEFE: Because Kansas City needs help. I hate the fact that being from KC, we’re only known for violence and gang banging. It’s more to KC than just that. There’s actual talent down there! They have some crazy talent, but don’t have the outlets, contacts, or resources to get out of that local mind state. I know A LOT of talented artist in KC, such as, Rico Ricardo, Melena, Flowrese, Ballstar, Santina, Geezel, just to name a few and they are very passionate about their music. I feel that the world needs to see, feel, and understand that as well as the rest of Kansas City, so bringing The EHMP to Kansas City will be amazing for them. This program actually gives the artist a chance to be marketed and promoted worldwide for a little bit of notthing. Hence the slogan, “We HELP artist CREATE a BUZZ by UTILIZING the MEDIA to the MAXIMUM!”
BPM: If the world could remember you by one quote, what would it be?
MS FEFE: “When the grass gets low, the snakes will show, so remain humble, and keep it 100. You never know what B.S. will arise.”
