Funkmaster Flex, who just snagged a Lil Wayne jailhouse interview phone call for his radio show on Hot 97, will be throwing a “Birthday Extravaganza” on August 11 at the B.B. King Blues Club and Grill. Joining the Big Dawg Pitbill kingpin for his celebration, many hip hop notables from the past, and present.

Continuing to rise in his exposure levels, Joell Ortiz will be appearing. Ortiz, one of Birthplace Magazine’s “5 Reasons Why New York Hip Hop Doesn’t Suck” for June, just might get into his song, “Project Boy,” produced by the legendary DJ Premier, who will be at the event, along with the Gang Starr-affiliated Group Home.
Expect Sheek Louch to perform, along with Capone N Noreaga, aka CNN, fresh off the streetsically-acclaimed release of The War Report 2.
Following the comeback theme, Camron is scheduled to appear (though the flyer doesn’t mention new Cam-affiliated, and felllow tungs-speaker, Vado), crossover-reggae superstar Shaggy (who has been getting fairly active lately, after several years on apparent hiatus) and a very-rare-these-days performance by the former gruff-voiced-Ashanti-drizzled-pop-rap-crossover-hitmaker-himself, Ja Rule.
Of course, this is Funkmaster Flex, who has a wealth of A-List hip hop relationships in this city, so you never know who else is going to touch down at the event.
Tickets are on sale now, but we have a pair of passes to give away to the event. Simply fill out the form below, and we’ll select one random entry a couple days before the show.
