Amid reports that Fat Joe’s The Darkside Vol. 1 has leaked, tracks have started appearing left and right. We normally don’t like to play that game, but since we are NY-oriented, and this track features die-hard BX representative Joey Crack and temporary NY resident, Lil Wayne, we wanted to give this one a little coverage. (We passed on the one with Rico Love earlier, but this one had a better vibe).
Admittedly, we’re a little confused. We’re not sure what’s up with Fat Joe these days. Normally, most of us here in the BirthplaceMag.com lab feel that Fat Joe has never quite lived up to the hype he himself presents, and truthfully, we kind of counted him out of the game once 50 went in. But a couple of Joe’s recent efforts have caught our collective ear, and not sucked, so perhaps there is still some hope for the Bronx bomber.
The Streetrunner produced “Heavenly Father” has a pretty smooth slow rolling, sound-effect filled, piano-laden, smokey-air vibe but only features Weezy on the chorus. A little disappointing, but again, almost surprisingly, it is yet another very listenable joint coming from Camp Cartagena.
This might get removed due to copyright violation, as it’s hard to tell at this point what’s being released for promotional use as opposed to being leaked, so get it while you can.
