Lauryn Hill Interview, Feature on NPR

Lauryn Hill, arguably one of the great artists of our time, frustrated a world of music lovers when, soon after the monumental success of her debut solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, she left the music world, and seemingly went through years of troubling personal issues that confounded outsiders, many who simply longed for her return.

After this year’s announcement that Ms. Hill will indeed be performing at the annual Rock The Bells traveling festival, the excitement of her impending return blossomed to new heights. Though her “warm-up” at the June Harmony Festival in Santa Rosa, California, stirred some critical debate (mainly folks weren’t feeling the ‘sped up’ delivery of her classics) there is still no denying her appeal and the desire to see her return.

Still, her self-imposed exile left many questions, and for journalists, it has been notoriously difficult to interview Hill. Finally, the good folks at NPR managed to scoop the world with a great profile piece on the ex-Fugee, with audio clips from Hill herself.

Absolutely worth a read and listen.
