Rakim, the Strong Island native who many consider to be the greatest lyricist in hip hop history, returns to the NY area this week for a solo headlining performance at The Crazy Donkey, in Farmingdale.
The “God Emcee”, who hails from nearby Wyandanch, will hit the stage following an assortment of local talent, leading the second in a series of concerts presented by Terence Trend Inc., which launched on March 25th with dual powerhouse headliners Big Daddy Kane and Doug E Fresh. The Legends of Hip Hop series continues on April 22 with hip hop founding member, Grandmaster Flash.
Rakim is currently celebrating more than 20 years in his musical career, starting with the 1987 release of Paid In Full, and most recently, his long awaited return with The Seventh Seal, a project delayed in part due to a musical relationship with West Coast veteran producer Dr. Dre, lasting several years, but that never quite materialized.
