Snapping snares, blingy bells, clean cuts and voracious vocals punctuate “Piano Sigh Pha”, the collaorative effort recently released by New Jersey MCs Tab (of Dead Poets), Kay M, Chris Reg (M.A.S.H.), Kalil Kash and Renagade (Dead Poets). The song was produced by Anitek, also hails from NJ.
The title of the track is a play on the ebony/ivory order of the artists, perhaps an effort to emphasize a feeling of racial unity among the up and coming New Jersey underground. In any case, whether the track is a metaphor, or simply a NJ-affiliated posse cut, it’s a good, head-nodding, neck-snapping listen.
We’ve heard from a couple of these cats before, and “Piano Sigh Pha” is a good introduction the the rest. It’s a nice little taste of what Jerz is serving up these days, so stay tuned for more from these collaborators. Also, the crew got together at the weekly End of the Weak showcase Sunday, April 11 as part of a video shoot for the song, so we’ll be bringing that to you when it drops.
