For the first time in nearly 20 years, Leaders of The New School, the 1990’s rap group that spawned a solo Busta Rhymes, joined forces on stage, adding surprise appearances by A Tribe Called Quest for a raucous rendition of their collaborative classic, “Scenario” at the 2012 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival.

Despite a delay in getting to Busta’s headlining performance, Brooklyn Bridge Park eagerly joined in the historical moment, watching as Charlie Brown and Dinco D joined Busta Rhymes for their first classic, “Case of the P.T.A.” The possibility of a “Scenario” became more pronounced as DJ Scratchator dropped the familiar bassline and soon thereafter, the thousands in attendance were jumping and rhyming along, shouting the adlibs with force that shook the Promenade.

The performance culminated the final concert of the nearly week-long, eighth annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. The 2011 final day concert, headlined by Q-Tip, was punctuated by a surprise appearance by Kanye West, as well as this year’s top biller, Busta Rhymes.

We’re certain the good folks at Brooklyn Bodega will be distributing great video of the momentous event, but for now, a little fan video. Check out Leaders of the New School and A Tribe Called Quest rocking “Scenario” at the 2012 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival.
